Super delighted every time I see these at the gym.
I’m telling you all I want is a warm blanket
Been in the cold too long
And if I remember what it feels like to have warm toes
For only long enough to feel a pulse
Then I can make thicker angels in the snow
So I guess I’ll press my hands onto my handlebars and push past the car exhaust
Until I’ve exhausted my breath and left behind thoughts worth less than the exchange rate
Until I’m surrounded by fields of brown and green
And crumbling mud huts in between
And sooner than I kick my kick stand in the earth
Eyes full of tears notes the sun’s worth
I press my back pockets atop the soil and take a seat
And acknowledge whichever force makes my heart beat
I look to the man on his wooden stool with creases in his smile
Who’s escaped the city noise in only a few short miles
And I realize without sparing a thought
That the warmth of a wool blanket in which I sought
Feels better on the sheep’s back before being bought
Left at peace, seemingly, in a land divided into broken parts
By animals with big brains and closed hearts
And I suppose we can each agree on one thing
I’d sure as hell pass up honking horns to hear the birds sing
A lesson on recycling! Super thrilled to see enthusiasm in my students. Cross country borders doesn’t inhibit us from wanting to save our planet.
